### （一）

時，具壽耶舍有四在家友，乃波羅㮈國長者、隨長者族姓子，〔名〕離垢、善臂、滿勝、牛主，聞：「族姓子耶舍剃除鬚髮，著袈裟衣，離家而出家。」聞已，彼等心生思念：「此非下劣法、律，此非下劣出家。何以故？族姓子耶舍于此剃除鬚髮，著袈裟衣，離家而出家故。」

> At that time, the venerable Yasha had four lay friends—elders of Varanasi and sons of leading families, named Liguo, Shanbi, Mansheng, and Niuzhu. When they heard that "Yasha, a son of a good family, has shaved off his hair and beard, donned the saffron robes, and left home to become a renunciant," they thought to themselves: "This is no inferior teaching or discipline, nor is this a lesser renunciation. Why? Because Yasha, a son of a good family, has shaved off his hair and beard, donned the saffron robes, and left home to become a renunciant."
