### （一）

時，諸沙彌心生思念：「我等學處有幾何耶？我等應學何耶？」彼等以此事白世尊，〔世尊曰：〕「諸比丘！沙彌有十學處，許沙彌學此，〔謂：〕不殺生、不偷盜、不行非梵行、不妄語、不飲酒、不非時食、不觀聽歌舞伎樂、不用鬘香塗飾、不睡高廣大牀、不受金銀。諸比丘！沙彌有如此十學處，沙彌應學此。」

> At that time, the novices thought to themselves: "How many precepts do we have? What should we train in?" They reported this matter to the Blessed One, \[and the Blessed One said:\] "Monks, there are ten training rules for novices, and novices should train in these: refraining from killing living beings, refraining from stealing, refraining from unchaste conduct, refraining from false speech, refraining from intoxicating drinks and substances, refraining from eating at improper times, refraining from watching dances, music, and shows, refraining from wearing garlands, fragrances, and ornaments, refraining from sleeping on high or luxurious beds, and refraining from accepting gold and silver. Monks, these are the ten training rules for novices, and novices should train in these."
