Lately, I have been seeking alms in mountain villages and have not yet had the chance to set sail across the clouds. I am deeply grateful for your gracious letter and your thoughtful concern. Due to a lack of convenient messengers, my reply has been delayed. Regarding the matters mentioned in your esteemed letter, I shall certainly follow your instructions. Once the temple record is completed, I will consult with esteemed predecessors to revise the mountain chronicle and include the names of virtuous individuals—truly an enduring endeavor. I hope you, sir, will give this your attention. 信宿山頭，快聆麈誨，備接老和尚慈光和靄，道氣凝人，似可悠然忘暑，竟不知燭龍之為虐也，欣快何如！臨岐已佩仁風之惠，復蒙貺及豚兒，一門叨厚，感媿交併，敬謝！敬謝！細閱山誌，前人編輯盡善，可無遺議，但續紀　幸臨盛典，誠為曠世之遇，所當急為拜颺者也。至于殿工之早竣，實賴老和尚贊成盛心，擬附一記，垂諸久遠。因見前賢先有寺記一編，似不嫌其創也，未識朗鑒以為然否？併此預懇，容當呈教。道駕何日還山，舟過胥江，尚圖面候，近履泥叩以悉。 > Having spent the night in the mountain monastery, I was delighted to listen to your profound teachings and to fully receive the venerable elder’s compassionate radiance and gentle presence. Upon carefully reading the mountain chronicle, I find that the previous editors have done an excellent job, leaving little room for criticism. However, the continuation of the record to include the grand ceremony of your auspicious visit is truly a rare encounter across the ages, and it should be promptly celebrated and extolled. As for the early completion of the temple’s construction, it truly relied on the venerable elder’s supportive and sincere heart. I intend to append a record of this, so that it may endure for generations to come. Noticing that earlier worthies have already compiled a chronicle of the monastery, it seems fitting not to shy away from such a new addition. I wonder if your discerning judgment finds this appropriate? I mention this in advance, and shall respectfully await your guidance. When will your revered journey return to the mountains? If your boat passes by Xu River, I still hope to have the honor of greeting you in person. In the meantime, I humbly inquire about your recent well-being.
