### 示若鏡禪人

> "Showing the Mirror to the Zen Practitioner"

山之高者，無出我蜀峨峰，天下第一也。且山中居者，不析言之。若鏡禪人來參，老僧得一休歇，不獨若鏡為喻，且光照無私，但不知果。若是乎，老僧書以佳志俟，異日來痛喫吾棒也。

> Of all high mountains, none surpasses our Sichuan's Emei Peak—the greatest under heaven. Moreover, those who dwell in the mountains do not speak of distinctions. If someone like Jing Chan came to study with me, this old monk would finally get a moment of rest. Not only is he like a mirror as an analogy, but his light shines without bias—yet I cannot know the outcome for certain. If this is so, this old monk writes these words to mark his good intent, waiting for the day when he comes to receive a firm beating from my staff.
