> Guidance for Chan Practitioner Yuan

打坐參禪貴要腳跟立定，莫被境風所鼓，東去西去，溷過光陰；左之右之，徒勞氣力。只在動靜忙閒處著得隻眼，始知和尚元是人做。

> In meditation and Chan practice, the crucial thing is to stand firm on solid ground—do not be swayed by the winds of circumstance, drifting east and west, wasting away your time. Struggling left and right only exhausts your energy in vain. Only when you can keep one eye open amidst movement and stillness, in busyness and leisure, will you realize that even a master is, at root, just a human being doing this work.
