### 性願法師小傳

> Biography of Master Xingyuan

> Jue Bin

釋古志，字性願，南安古山鄉洪氏子也。俗家父母皆奉佛，幼年即依德山禪師披剃。年十四，受具足戒於本寺；後參學於浙之天童，及江蘇等名剎，研究天台教典，頗有心得，在泉常設講座，聽眾極多。

> The monk Gu Zhi, whose Dharma name was Xing Yuan, was a son of the Hong family from Gushan Village in Nan'an. Both of his lay parents were devoted to Buddhism. From a young age, he became a monk under the guidance of Zen Master Deshan. At fourteen, he received full ordination at this temple. Later, he traveled to study at famous monasteries such as Tiantong in Zhejiang and others in Jiangsu, where he deeply explored the teachings of the Tiantai school and gained considerable insight. While in Quanzhou, he frequently gave lectures, attracting very large audiences.

師聰慧過人，善辭章，工書法，現主講於泉之承天寺佛學研究社，宏施法雨，普利人天，誠閩南僧輩中之翹楚也。師為本寺首座，服務本寺八年餘，以此因緣，謹傳以為紀念也。

> Master, with your exceptional wisdom, masterful prose, fine calligraphy, and current lectures at the Buddhist Studies Society of Cheng Tian Temple in Quanzhou, you spread the Dharma like nourishing rain, benefiting all beings in heaven and earth. Truly, you stand as a distinguished leader among the monks of southern Fujian. As the senior monk of this temple, you have served here for over eight years. For this cause, I respectfully record this to commemorate our connection.
