### 為擎菴張護法夢贈夫人前途說教。

> For Protector Zhang of Qing Temple: A Dream Sermon for His Wife's Future Journey

中道眾生輪迴世間，有二顛倒，分別見妄，皆由妄想業識，夢寐往來，念念覓相續心，無片時寧靜。若向者裏轉念，孰管伊見見非見？總為燈上之圓影，那安排夢魂生死、西方東方之有哉？所以道：一念相應，掃除凡聖。其中覓影像了不可得，真也是眚，妄也是眚，求西方也是眚，成佛作祖也是眚，參禪學道也是眚，夫妻求引也是眚，眚亦是󵌒。既然如是，且向那裏著腳？既無著腳處，今日山僧將已上種種夢幻，以龜毛束作一橛，用兔角杖挑向南湖，令他當下翻身，不使重生異念，亦免逐妄逐真，拋家散走。還有人救得麼？咦！翻洋須是弄潮手，縱步沖雲跨九霄。

> Sentient beings in the mundane world have two kinds of inverted views, arising from deluded discrimination and emotional consciousness. Like dreams and wandering at night, they chase after continuity of thought without a moment of peace. If you can shift your perspective at this point, who cares about "seeing and non-seeing"? All of it is just like circular reflections around a lamp—what place is there to arrange dreams, life and death, or the East and West directions? Therefore, it is said: "One thought in accord sweeps away all notions of ordinary and sacred." Within this, not even a trace of an image can be found. Enlightenment is a defect, delusion is a defect, seeking the Western Pure Land is a defect, attaining Buddhahood or becoming a patriarch is a defect, practicing Chan or studying the Dharma is a defect, seeking worldly pleasures is a defect—even the notion of "defect" itself is a defect. Since this is so, where can we set foot? With no place to stand, today this mountain monk takes all these illusions—binding them into one bundle with a rabbit's horn for a staff, picks them up and casts them into the Southern Lake. In that instant, let them turn around completely, without giving rise to any further thoughts, thus avoiding chasing after either illusion or reality, abandoning home and wandering astray. Is there anyone who can save them? Ah! To ride the waves, you need the skill of a surfer; stride freely, crossing the clouds and soaring beyond the nine heavens.
