> Portrait Eulogy of Venerable Brother Sheng of Shifeng, Lushan

挺挺孤風，崚崚獨兀。四十年坐斷獅峰，彈指頃鏤碎空谷。有時披山水之袈裟，有時碎風雷之窮骨。其形也皎潔如霜，其用也全機若蠍。不拈無柄拂，掀翻野狐窟，仔細思量個老兄。夫世之謂臨濟大師之玄孫，語風老人之高傑。

> Standing tall in solitary grace, rugged and uniquely prominent. For forty years seated atop Lion Peak, in a snap of the fingers, shattering the hollow valley. Sometimes draped in the robe of mountains and waters, sometimes breaking through the very bones of wind and thunder. His form, pure and bright as frost; his action, fully alive, sharp as a scorpion's sting. He does not wield a handleless whisk, yet overturns the den of wild foxes—reflect carefully on this old master. He is what the world calls the great-grandson of Chan Master Linji, the lofty heir of Venerable Yufeng.
