### 示心啟禪人

> Guidance for the Mind, Awakening the Zen Practitioner

入此宗者，宜先截斷葛藤最為捷徑。學解塞於胸襟、語脈障于咽喉、緣念坌于識田，無往而非熟境。欲以希望心、聰明靈利心，虛浮不真而入此門，譬剪彩作花，其如大地陽春何？必須忘緣泯念專心一路，將無義味話頭極力參研，如貓捕鼠追到牛角表，自有倒斷時節也。

> Those who enter this school should first cut through all entanglements—this is the swiftest path. Scholarly interpretations clog the mind, verbal threads block the throat, and restless thoughts crowd the field of consciousness—nowhere is free from familiar traps. If you try to enter this gate with a hopeful heart, a clever and sharp mind, or a hollow and insincere attitude, it is like making flowers from cut paper—what does it have to do with the vibrant spring of the earth? You must let go of entanglements, quiet the thoughts, and focus solely on one path. With all your strength, investigate the wordless koan, like a cat stalking a mouse, chasing it to the very tip of a cow's horn—only then will there come a moment of natural resolution.
