They sought only to achieve great harmony, but little did they know that war's blood would stain the mountains and rivers. 世尊陞座 > The World-Honored One Ascended the Throne 一番起倒一番別，善說終歸不說說。珍重乘虛接響流，從來妙唱非干舌。 > One rise, one fall, one parting, Skilful speech ultimately returns to silence in speech. Treasure the stream that rides emptiness and echoes sound— The wondrous song has never depended on the tongue. 夜睹明星 > At night, gazing upon the bright stars. 六年冷坐自欺謾，一點明星省舊顏。從此出頭天外看，人人鼻直兩眉彎。 > Six years of cold sitting, deceiving oneself with empty practice, Until one bright star revealed the face of old. From then on, one looks beyond the heavens, Every person's nose straight, eyebrows curved. 女子出定 > The Woman Emerges from Meditation 亂峰深處撥雲根，幾片橫斜隔遠村，珍重行人仔細看，莫將隻眼定乾坤。 > Amid the tangled peaks, I part the clouds at their root, A few branches slanting across, veiling the distant village. Treasure this sight, traveler—look with care, Do not let a single eye define the whole world. 外道問佛 > A non-Buddhist asked the Buddha. 問既有宗答亦同，出群良驥疾如風，揚眉瞬目三千里，蹋破重關不露蹤。 > This verse speaks to the nature of Zen practice and realization. A faithful yet accessible translation: "When a question meets its answer, the spirit is the same— A fine steed leaps from the herd, swift as the wind. Knowledge refined yet still veiled in partial darkness— A thousand demons and a hundred specters toy with those before them. 婆子燒庵 > Old Woman Burns the Hermitage 巧繡鴛鴦善把鍼，暗通一線扣知音，與麼不解與麼去，惱殺阿家恨轉深。 趙州訪二庵主 一等同坑無異土，許多分析水中乳。豈知變態足人情，翻手雲兮覆手雨。 南泉斬貓 提起貓兒已太危，一刀兩段不容遲。草鞋雖未早相救，殺活齊行說向誰。 德山托缽 巖頭密啟意何如？來日上堂便合渠。只得三年果不謬，誰言末後句還虛？ 靈雲見桃華，玄沙未徹。 滿眼風光一旦新，縱經搖落不勝春。若從枝上較長短，翻致桃華笑殺人。 百千諸佛 黃鶴樓成諸佛土，須看諸佛出身處。眼前景致忽拈來，盡是詩家絕妙句。 臨濟入黃檗室中，三度問話，三度被打。 惡辣室中，虎穴魔宮，鉗鎚佛祖，激發英雄。大機大用，大力大功，惟行正令，不假旁通。黃檗老，太艸匆，棒頭血濺梵天紅，兒孫萬古振家風。 興化打克賓維那 建功立業，意氣軒昂；為尋敵手，大展旗鎗。戰不勝，令重張；趁出院，威莫揚。當時肯奮姜維膽，兩陣衝鋒誰不強？ 福昌重善禪師。僧問：「如何是正法眼藏？」善云：「夜觀乾象。」僧云：「意旨如何？」善云：「日裏看山。」 夜觀乾象，日裏看山。重重指出，深憫機頑。明暗兩忘兮一光獨露，根塵不偶兮萬境虛閒。明明歷歷無遮覆，莫向管中窺豹斑。 二鼠侵藤 知隱身處，難將眼覷。饒他鼠侵，於我何與。寒暑推遷晝夜忙，儂家別是一行藏。 鼓山折箭 鋒鋩箇聖箭，堪出沙場戰。兵馬城中圍，挺然當一面。中途折卻，徒逞韜略。暗用機謀，少人摸索。有後語，分明舉。有鄉情，未相許。卸甲定功勳，擬圖勝負分。誰知不豎賞，大樹下將軍。 百丈再參馬祖 即此離此，以指喻指。共展家風，是父是子。驀地一聲迅雷，從前伎倆都灰。明彰莫大機用，暗伏兒孫禍胎。遞代相傳為牓樣，門庭萬仞仰崔嵬。 大顛擯首座 晝夜一百八，文公不自察，兩番扣齒同，顛老機還滑。擯首座，重關破，有力人，堪負荷。出岫白雲不敢坐，從前窠臼許誰墮？電光石火急翻身，直似大蟲看水磨。 九峰不肯首座 一色邊事，非先師意。見諦不同，裝香來試。縱然去得親，依舊隔關津。機峭迥殊絕，眼高難比倫。未夢見真鐵面，肯隨盲瞎許神變。 三聖瞎驢 正法眼藏，具頂門上。付囑流通，喝聲勇壯。心不負人兮，非虛非妄。面無慚色兮，千了百當。特地反遭訶瞎驢，還將底事勘親疏。臨機殺活威權重，透過牢關始放渠。 透網金鱗 開口露行藏，一言見底蘊，箇中若自知，豈復懷疑問？振鬣欲躍清波，力弱尚縈網羅，未得通身活鱍，龍門孰許相過？話頭不識，住持事繁，縱橫合轍，左右逢源。雪峰老，不之遶，答語平常人莫曉。
