### 示鑒宗知客

古云：「三賢固未明斯旨，十聖那能達此宗？」此宗既十聖不能達，汝且作麼生鑒？須知衲僧手段繇來迥別，吞佛祖，越聖凡，融古今，離學解，如巨靈劈太華，一劈無餘；長鯨吸滄溟，一吸到底。自非恁麼猛利、恁麼力量，而欲洞鑒此宗為克家種草，甚難，甚難。

> An ancient saying goes: "Even the three worthies could not comprehend this principle; how could the ten sages reach its depth?" Since this fundamental principle is beyond the reach of the ten sages, how then can you discern it? You must understand that the methods of a genuine monk are inherently extraordinary—they swallow the Buddha and the patriarchs, transcend both sages and ordinary beings, merge past and present, and break free from intellectual understanding. This is like the great spirit splitting Mount Hua in a single, complete blow, or a giant whale draining the vast ocean in one gulp. Without such fierce sharpness and such immense power, attempting to fully penetrate this principle and become a true successor to the lineage is extremely, extremely difficult.

德山見龍潭，於吹滅紙燭處知歸；韶陽參睦州，於掩門拶腳處契悟。雖師家鉗鎚妙密使然，亦係自己夙稟英靈所致，此乃宗門中第一等人。汝又不妨借以為鑒，忽然鑒得他破，咄！德山、韶陽二老凍儂，正好喚來掇茶。
