### 示古梅甲禪人

達磨大師曰：「學道者多，證道者少；說理者多，悟理者少。」且道過在甚麼處？莫是不肯真參實悟，獨向義學以資談柄麼？咦！莫錯會好。若只任麼祖師西來，只成世諦流布。既不如是，畢竟如何是全提正令處，隨類現身？時不見僧問五祖演和尚：「達磨面壁，意旨如何？」祖曰：「計較未成。」還會麼？多少伶俐漢，杜撰亂差排。

> Master Damo said: "Many study the Way, but few realize it; many speak of principle, but few awaken to it." So where does the fault lie? Could it be that people refuse to genuinely practice and truly awaken, instead clinging to intellectual study as mere material for debate? Ah! Don't misunderstand this. If it were only that, then the Patriarch's coming from the West would just be worldly talk. Since it's not so, after all, what is the true full expression of the teaching, manifesting according to each being's nature? At that time, a monk asked Master Wuzu Yan: "What is the meaning of Damo facing the wall?" The Master said: "Before calculation is complete." Do you understand? How many clever people have made wild guesses and arranged things wrongly!
