### 【第二十三折】

今既懺悔已，與善知識授無相三歸依戒。大師言：「善知識！歸依覺，兩足尊；歸依正，離欲尊；歸依淨，眾中尊。從今以後，稱佛為師，更不歸依邪迷外道，願自三寶慈悲證明。善知識！惠能勸善知識歸依三寶。佛者，覺也；法者，正也；僧者，淨也。自心歸依覺，邪迷不生，少欲知足，離財離色，名兩足尊。自心歸依正，念念無邪故，即無愛著，以無愛著，名離欲尊。自心歸依淨，一切塵勞妄念，雖在自性，自性不染著，名眾中尊。凡夫不解，從日至日，受三歸依戒。若言歸佛，佛在何處？若不見佛，即無所歸；既無所歸，言卻是妄。善知識！各自觀察，莫錯用意，經中只言自歸依佛，不言歸依他佛。自性不歸，無所依處。」

> Now that we have repented, I shall confer upon you, my good friends, the Formless Precepts of the Triple Refuge. The Master said: "Good friends, take refuge in the Awakened One, the Most Honored of the Two-Legged. Take refuge in the True Dharma, the Most Honored of Those Free from Desire. Take refuge in the Pure Sangha, the Most Honored of the Multitude. From this day forth, take the Buddha as your teacher. Do not take refuge in false, deluded, or heterodox paths. May the compassionate Triple Gem bear witness. Good friends, I urge you to take refuge in the Triple Gem. The Buddha is Awakening. The Dharma is Truth. The Sangha is Purity. When your own mind takes refuge in Awakening, delusion and falsehood do not arise. You have few desires and know contentment, free from attachment to wealth and sensual pleasures. This is called the Most Honored of the Two-Legged. When your own mind takes refuge in Truth, your every thought is free from falsehood. Thus there is no craving or clinging. Because there is no craving or clinging, it is called the Most Honored of Those Free from Desire. When your own mind takes refuge in Purity, all worldly defilements and wandering thoughts, though present within your own nature, do not stain it. This is called the Most Honored of the Multitude. Ordinary people, not understanding this, receive the precepts of the Triple Refuge day after day. If they speak of taking refuge in the Buddha, where is the Buddha? If they do not see the Buddha, they have nothing to take refuge in. Having nothing to take refuge in, their words are empty. Good friends, each of you must examine this carefully. Do not misunderstand the meaning. The sutras speak only of taking refuge in the Buddha within yourself; they do not speak of taking refuge in a Buddha outside yourself. If your own nature does not take refuge, there is nowhere to rely."
