Dunhuang Museum Edition Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch, Collated Full Text

Section 27

Good friends, from the one Prajñā of my teaching method arise eighty-four thousand kinds of wisdom. Why is that? Because worldly people have eighty-four thousand afflictions. If there were no afflictions, Prajñā would always be present, never apart from intrinsic nature. One who awakens to this teaching is precisely without thought, without recollection, and without attachment. Do not give rise to deceit and falsehood—this itself is the nature of true suchness. Employing wisdom to observe and illuminate, neither grasping nor rejecting anything among all Dharmas, one sees one's nature and accomplishes the Path to Buddhahood.
