> Good friends! When I was at the Fifth Patriarch's place, I heard one phrase and immediately awakened, suddenly seeing my own True Nature. This is why I spread the teaching of Sudden Enlightenment to future generations—so that seekers of the Way can suddenly awaken to Enlightenment, each one observing their own mind and letting their own nature suddenly awaken. If you cannot awaken on your own, you must seek a great teacher to show you the path and help you see your true nature.

> What is a true teacher of great wisdom? One who explains the highest teaching, directly pointing to the right path—this is a true teacher of great wisdom, a great and profound connection. Such a teacher shows the way, enabling others to realize their own true nature. All wholesome teachings arise because of such a teacher’s guidance. The Buddhas of the past, present, and future, as well as the twelve categories of scriptures, are originally present within everyone’s nature. If you cannot awaken on your own, you need a wise teacher to point the way and help you see your true nature. But if you awaken yourself, you do not need to seek a teacher outside. If you seek liberation by relying on an external teacher, you will not find it. Recognize the teacher within—the wisdom inside your own mind—and you will attain liberation. If your own mind is twisted by confusion and false thoughts, even an external teacher’s guidance cannot save you. If you cannot awaken on your own, then activate the light of Prajñā wisdom. In an instant, all false thoughts vanish—this very realization is your own true teacher. One moment of awakening brings you to the state of Buddhahood. With wisdom, examine your own mind. See clearly both inside and outside, and recognize your original nature. To recognize your original nature is liberation. Once liberated, you abide in the samādhi of Prajñā. To awaken to this samādhi is to be free from clinging thoughts.

> What is meant by "No-Thought"? The teaching of No-Thought means seeing all things yet not clinging to any of them; being everywhere yet not attached to any place. It means constantly purifying your own nature, allowing the six thieves (the senses) to leave through the six gates (sense organs), and while amidst the six sense objects, neither being separated from them nor stained by them. To come and go freely—this is the Samadhi of Prajna, liberation itself, and is called the practice of No-Thought. Do not think that this means cutting off all thoughts. Trying to eliminate all thoughts entirely is just another form of bondage, a biased view. Those who awaken to the teaching of No-Thought will understand all truths; those who awaken to it will see the realm of all Buddhas; those who awaken to the sudden teaching of No-Thought will reach the state of Buddhahood.
