「船」者，言由此渡〔水〕之物，「船中物」者，置於船中之物。「我欲取船中物」如是想，而以盜心或求第二者，或〔自〕往者突吉羅，觸之……波羅夷。「我欲取船」如是想，而以盜心……往者突吉羅，觸之者突吉羅，動之者偷蘭遮，解繩者突吉羅，解繩而觸者突吉羅，動之者偷蘭遮，往上或下或橫移動毛端程度亦犯波羅夷。

> "Boat" refers to something used to cross water, and "cargo on a boat" refers to items placed inside the boat. If one thinks, "I want to take the cargo on the boat," and with the intent to steal either seeks assistance or goes themselves, it is a minor offense (dukkaṭa). Touching the cargo... is a major offense (pārājika). If one thinks, "I want to take the boat itself," and with the intent to steal... goes themselves, it is a minor offense (dukkaṭa). Touching it is a minor offense (dukkaṭa). Moving it is a serious offense (thullaccaya). Untying the rope is a minor offense (dukkaṭa). Untying the rope and then touching it is also a minor offense (dukkaṭa). Moving it is a serious offense (thullaccaya). Even lifting it upward, downward, or shifting it sideways by the breadth of a single hair constitutes a major offense (pārājika).
