### 募修普同塔緣引

> Appeal for Building a Universal Stupa

歷古叢林知識，建立法幢，激揚宗旨，墈龍驗象，豎拂拈槌，是謂禪宗之極則也。然而收骨殮骸，普存合塔，亦先佛之定製。茲以山僧劣志，固不敢效古人之大作，別展一線風規。化道有緣，緇素同發盛心。多寡施助，共成一塔，功勒千秋。是疏。

> This is the historic Chan monastic custom: to establish the Dharma banner, to inspire and illuminate the core teachings, to test and awaken the true potential of practitioners, and to wield the whisk and the staff — these are the highest principles of the Chan School. Yet, to gather and respectfully house the relics of the departed, preserving them in a common stupa, is also a sacred tradition established by the Buddhas of old. Therefore, although I, this mountain monk, am of humble aspiration and dare not imitate the grand works of the ancients by creating any new standard, I wish to meet those fated for the Dharma. Let both monastics and lay practitioners alike give rise to a sincere and generous mind. Whether your contribution is great or small, let us all unite in building this single stupa. May its merit be inscribed in stone and endure for a thousand years. This is this appeal.
