山瘦骨稜層，跏趺一老僧，眉堆三尺雪，身護萬年藤。風月謾留戀，陰晴豈愛憎？胸流毫髮鑑，遠泝自南能。

> The mountain stands gaunt, its ridges sharp and bare, An old monk sits in lotus meditation there. Snow piles thick upon his brows, three feet deep, His body guards a vine that’s aged ten thousand years. Wind and moon may linger, yet he does not cling, Clouds shift, sun shines—does he love or hate these things? Within his chest a mirror, clear as a single strand, Flows from the distant source, back to Huineng’s land.
