### 子穀蔡居士請住金粟，師為殿事所繫不能應請。有僧勸駕，諸方仰慕，姑應一期，聊慰眾念。師不踐其言，遂占二偈答之。

> Vice Minister Cai requested the Master to reside at Jinsu Temple, but the Master could not accept due to temple affairs. A monk urged him to go, saying that the community admired him and hoped he would stay for a while to comfort everyone. The Master did not follow this advice and instead composed two verses in response.

一滴腥臊落五湖，鱗龍蝦蟹競懽呼，莫教擉破巨鰲鼻，吸盡滄溟徹底無。

> A single drop of filth falls into the five lakes, Fish, dragons, shrimp, and crabs all race to cheer. Don't let it pierce the giant turtle's nose— For then it would suck the vast ocean dry to its very depths.

成群踢踏滿娑婆，驀鼻將來意氣多，貴耳聞風千里外，撩鉤搭索奈他何。

> Herds trampling across the Saha world, Suddenly led by the nose, their spirit swells. Precious ears catch wind from a thousand miles away, Hooked and bound, what can one do against them?
