### 香幢兄山居詩序

香幢兄代先師座，余亦得次僧倫，頗稱交契。及兄分化檇李，真得兼宗，說於先師者，每托病韜晦結一指菴，吟詠水邊，遠絕四鄰，若深山谷，余亦為名山累，了無定蹤，時法門既碌碌矣，兄自若也。余適楚歸，同鴛湖兄訪之，鴛居桐月衡宇相望、氣味相類，余自顧覺形穢焉。及僭主天華、顯聖、住寶壽、入閩歸，法門更碌碌矣，兄猶自若也。每一興懷，得不移我北山，亦既幸矣。寒松顏色，敢冀復青耶？客冬作三泖遊，取道一看，話舊而已。茲主東塔，復得披襟領契已出意外，更出平生法語詩偈，一字一珠讀不忍置，因以山居小冊序梓，以鴛兄稿成，余亦得董其事耳。聊志歡喜，敢讓不文。

> Brother Xiangchuang served beside our late master, and I too was counted among the disciples, sharing a close bond with him. When he later went to Zui Li to teach, he truly embodied both traditions. Whenever speaking of our late master, he often feigned illness to conceal his depth, built a small hermitage, and composed verses by the water, far from all neighbors, as if deep in the mountains. I, meanwhile, was burdened by the fame of sacred peaks, wandering without a fixed abode. The Dharma community was already busy and bustling, yet he remained undisturbed. When I returned from Chu and visited him with Brother Yuanhu, they lived near each other in Tongyue, sharing similar temperaments. I felt ashamed of my own shortcomings beside them. Later, I presided over Tianhua and Xiansheng, resided at Baoshou, and traveled to Fujian before returning. The Dharma community grew ever more hectic, yet he remained as calm as ever. Whenever I recalled this, I felt fortunate that my northern mountain had not been moved. Could the cold pine ever regain its verdant hue? Last winter, I traveled to Sanmao and passed by for a visit, merely reminiscing about old times. Now, as abbot of Dongta, I have once again had the joy of unburdening my heart and receiving his insights—truly beyond all expectation. He then shared his lifetime of Dharma talks and verse compositions, each word a pearl too precious to set down. Thus, with his mountain-dwelling collection being prepared for publication, and Brother Yuan's draft already complete, I was honored to oversee the project. I have merely recorded my joy here, and dare not lay claim to literary refinement.
