> Abbot Jingwen establishes a community and revitalizes Wanshou Zen Temple as a place of welcome.

> Once, the venerable Master Zhenjing of Baofeng brought up the story of Elder Yuan, who was appointed to lead Hui'an Chan Monastery in Fengxin County. At that time, Zhantang was the head monk. Zhantang asked Yuan, "When you go, how will you manage the monastery?" Yuan replied, "I have no blessings, so I will simply form connections with everyone. Every day I'll carry a basket on my back, go out on the streets to beg for offerings, and provide for the community." Zhantang wrote a verse to see him off. Elder Yuan went and begged daily. Whenever a traveler arrived, he would invite them to rest at the monastery and say, "Allow me to return and prepare offerings for you." For thirty years, through rain and shine, he never wavered, and in time everything was accomplished—even the most neglected matters were taken care of. One day, the Venerable Huanglong Sixin came to visit him. Yuan said, "New abbot! You always use that 'thoughtless move' to overwhelm people. Tonight, please stay here. I'd like to discuss some small and great matters of Dharma with you." Sixin found this intimidating and left without spending the night. Now, the temple manager Jingwen is leaving the storehouse of the Buddha Sun monastery to form a society and jointly revive Wanshou Chan Monastery. Although Jingwen may lack the northern toughness of Elder Yuan, his compassionate intent surpasses him. If one day someone like Huanglong comes, I wonder how he will receive them. If he simply welcomes them with respect, offers tea and meals with care, and provides a convenient place to rest—not minding whether they have "thoughtful moves" or "thoughtless moves," not distinguishing whether they are sages or ordinary people—they can go wherever they please, wagging their tails and shaking their heads. I'm certain he won't blame Jingwen for having thorns hidden in the mud. Haha!
