西溪道上，等個人來，十里梅已脫雪飛花，而個人猶屬杳然。忽接翰惠，雖免梅花笑人，終未似把袂閒林，生我山光也。承命作讚，聊搆小偈塞責，謹書請政靜聞，假歸便謝，不宣。

> On the road to West Creek, I wait for someone to come. The plum blossoms stretch for ten miles, their petals shedding snow and scattering like flowers—yet the person I await remains nowhere in sight. Suddenly your letter arrives. Though it spares me the mockery of the plum blossoms, it still cannot compare to walking together in the quiet woods, where the mountain light would bring me to life. As you requested, I have composed a brief verse, a small offering to fulfill my duty. I humbly write it out for your kind perusal. When I return home, I will thank you properly. With that, I close.
