讀「賀家池上天華寺，一一軒窗向水開」之詩，則知寺之閱人多且久矣，今復新於陶章諸宅宗曉、張道尊共請先師湛然和尚雅集龍象，重整宗綱，復得達虛關主輔翼之。自先師圓寂，門庭愈肅，僧眾愈調，關主茲又以謙自居，特虛丈室，見招山野，欲思所以報佛恩於不朽，防滲漏於未然耳。奈山野久耽山水，少入叢林，無可益於法門，但憐時弊、慕古道，近賢者、遠不肖，或堪與同志者共。諸師友！能不以人廢言，信從少分清規遞相砥礪，即是自信信人，終不至於慢人自慢矣。又何佛恩之不可報、檀信之不可酬、慧命之不可永繼乎？

> Reading the poem, "At He Family Pond, Temple of Heavenly Flowers stands, every window opens toward the water," we can sense how long and how many people this temple has witnessed. Now it has been renewed through the efforts of Tao Zhang and other lay devotees, who together invited my late master, the Venerable Zhannan, to gather the great assembly and restore the order of the teachings. With the support of Abbot Daxu, the community flourished. Since my master's passing, the temple has grown ever more dignified, and the monks more harmonious. Now Abbot Daxu, in his humility, has vacated his quarters and invited me, a mountain dweller, to come, hoping to find ways to repay the Buddha's kindness enduringly and to guard against any seepage of the Dharma before it happens. But I have long been enamored with mountains and waters, rarely entering monastic life, and have little to offer the Dharma community. I only lament the faults of our times and long for the ancient ways—drawing near to the wise and keeping distance from the unworthy, perhaps finding kinship with those of like mind. Dear friends and fellow practitioners! If you can set aside your preconceptions and not dismiss my words, and if a small measure of pure discipline can be followed in mutual encouragement, then that is trusting oneself and trusting others—never falling into disrespecting others or oneself. How then could the Buddha's kindness go unrepaid, the faith of benefactors go unrequited, or the life of wisdom fail to continue eternally?
