### 副府劉公請啟

> Invitation by Deputy Magistrate Liu

伏以白馬西來，已成文字之案；一葦東渡，遂開棒喝之宗。悟徹飛鳶，提醒處扭轉鼻孔；妙演真諦，親切時點動石頭。欲掃一切野狐，請推無上法寶。恭惟竺翁大和尚，派演臨濟，光啟慶忠，締造經營，肯搆肯堂輝鹿苑；語言法象，即心即佛勝柳溪。注法雨于不二門中，覆慈雲于大千界內。飛錫二載，到處金鰲下釣絲；柸渡一朝，依舊鴛鴦留繡帶。彪等敬諏如來成道之日，奉為祗圓結制之期。雪意橫窗，嶺上梅花初漏白；霜威動地，階前芻草尚留青。伏願慈航普渡，花雨高飛，豎指天龍，說不盡一生受用，擎拳大藏，悉從此百棒皈依，則覺海長通，合老少智愚，各證面目；優缽煥彩，舉山川日月，咸昭盛化休光矣！彪等臨啟，曷勝依皈。謹啟。

> We recall that the white horse brought scriptures from the West, establishing a foundation of written words. A single reed crossed the East, giving rise to the school of shouts and blows. When one truly understands the soaring kite, the key moment comes when one turns the nostrils around. When the true meaning is wonderfully expounded, in that intimate moment the very stones are stirred. To sweep away all wild fox delusions, we must elevate the supreme Dharma treasure. With reverence, we address the Great Master Zhu Weng. Your lineage flows from Linji, and you carry forward the light of Qingzhong. Through your tireless efforts, you have built a magnificent Deer Park. Your words and teachings reveal that the mind itself is Buddha, surpassing the Willow Stream. You pour the rain of Dharma within the gate of non-duality and spread the clouds of compassion throughout the vast universe. For two years, you have wielded your staff, casting your golden turtle fishing line wherever you go. In a single day, you crossed the boat, still leaving the embroidered ribbon of the mandarin ducks. We, Biao and others, respectfully choose the day when the Tathagata realized enlightenment as the time for concluding the practice period at Jetavana Monastery. While snow fills the view beyond the window, the plum blossoms atop the ridge are just beginning to show their white. The frost's power stirs the earth, yet the straw grass before the steps still retains its green hue. We humbly pray that the boat of compassion carries all across. Let the rain of flowers fall high. Raise one finger, and the heavenly dragons can never fully express the blessings of a lifetime. Raise a fist to the Great Treasury, and all beings take refuge through these one hundred blows. Thus, the ocean of awakening flows endlessly. The young and old, the wise and foolish, each realize their true face. The udumbara flower shines in full splendor. The mountains, rivers, sun, and moon all brilliantly reveal the flourishing light and sacred virtue. We, Biao and others, approach this offering with boundless reverence and devotion. With deep respect, we present this prayer.
