The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Shanduo Zhenzai is a compilation of the words and deeds of the Qing Dynasty Chan monk Shanduo Zhenzai, edited by his disciples Jiyun and Zhixu, among others. Completed in the early Qing Dynasty, this work reflects the transmission and development of Chan Buddhism during the late Ming and early Qing periods. Its contents primarily include Master Zhenzai's public teachings, informal instructions, encounter dialogues, Dharma discourses, and verses, vividly presenting his direct and intense Chan style, which points directly to the mind and cuts off conceptual thinking. As an important text of the Linji school's Sanfeng lineage, this record not only reveals Master Zhenzai's profound Chan realization and pedagogical methods but also provides valuable firsthand material for studying the evolution of Chan thought during the Ming-Qing transition, holding significant research value in the history of Buddhist Chan.
