> In the middle of the night, dreams swirl endlessly without cease. I trample the eastern mountain, cross the western ridge, all in green— Yet when I turn over, I find myself still tucked beneath the quilt.

> At the rooster's crow in the hour of Chou, Every moment of the day naturally aligns. Over there, washing the face with water makes it shine, Here, sipping tea wets the mouth.

> At the break of dawn, the myriad forms reveal their solitary essence. Even the Buddha's arrival offers no leverage; Only when one truly resolves does intimacy arise.

> At sunrise, coral forests glow with brilliant light. No need to seek the Buddha elsewhere— a six-foot golden body in a single blade of grass.

> At mealtime, a separate pot steams fragrant new rice grains. After eating the porridge and washing the bowl, one speaks of the master's instruction.

> Mid-morning, do not divide the void into this and that. Wind chimes proclaim the teaching clearly, Each note distinct, yet not a single word is spoken.

> The sun is high at noon, I love leisure, not beating the mountain drum. With nothing to do, I climb the hill for a stroll, When tired, I return to sit upon the meditation cushion.

> At the Hour of the Sun's Decline, the twelve divisions of scripture can be known and honored. Bowing in reverence to the Supreme Noble One, I ask: What is meant by "Qiu Yiji"?

> Late afternoon, the meeting still feels like a distant shore. I wonder why my practice lacks strength— When things go well, I'm happy; when they go against me, I'm angry.

> The sun sets in the west. A crescent moon hangs before the willow by the window. I blow on the kindling, smoke fills the stove, and gray ash piles three or five measures high on my head.

> At dusk, the rats come to steal the white honey. Beating cotton by the bedside until midnight, Even the mountain monk can find no rest.

> In the stillness of midnight, a mustard seed drinks the sea of fragrant water dry. The jewel within the robe suddenly shines its light, The pillar and lantern together shout in praise.
