### 幻住雜編自序

> Preface to Illusory Abode Miscellany

憶自辛未冬初，入靈峰，今閱二十四載矣。幻緣不定，出入多番，僅於此結辛未冬，壬申夏，癸未夏，甲申冬，己丑冬，庚寅夏耳。癸酉、甲申之春，及辛卯冬，皆暫入旋出，席不暇煖，不亦深負山靈也乎？甲午仲春晦日，從新安歸，始克痛謝他緣，畢志安臥。客歲名幻遊，今應名為幻住也。偶有所述，名《幻住雜編》。

> I recall first arriving at Lingfeng in the early winter of the year Xinwei. Now, twenty-four years have passed. My drifting fate has been uncertain, coming and going many times. I have only truly settled here for brief periods: the winter of Xinwei, the summer of Renxu, the summer of Guishu, the winter of Jiashen, the winter of Jichou, and the summer of Gengyin. As for the springs of Guiyou and Jiashen, as well as the winter of Xinwei—each time was a short visit followed by a swift departure, never staying long enough to warm my seat. Have I not deeply let down the mountains and their spirit? On the final day of the second month of spring in the year Jawu, I returned from Xin'an and finally managed to gratefully bid farewell to all other distractions, resolving to rest peacefully. Last year, I named this life a "wandering illusion." Now, it should be called "dwelling illusion." What I have occasionally written, I call this \*A Miscellany of Dwelling Illusion\*.
