> Colophon to the Combined Commentary on the Brahma Net Sutra

夫本源心地，含生共有。無染性戒，日用不知。翳目而華舞太空，夢蟻而尋羶階下。然晴虛之體依然，輪王之身如故。哀哉妄惑，枉受幻輪。勞我慈尊，現身同患，示成不倦於八千，垂化無偏於塵剎。一滴之心地既敷，積劫之沈迷立醒。而琅函久錮，半珠僅呈。繄我愚蒙，得探全寶，竭思殫機，塵培泰嶽。思法緣之匪易，輒涕泗以滂沱。願我同仁，深思力學，解行同遵，自他俱利。庶得上報佛恩，不負己性矣。

> The original mind-ground, the pure essence of reality, is shared by all beings. This innate nature, unsullied and inherently pure, is a precept used daily without awareness. Like a film clouding the eye causing flowers to dance in the empty sky, or like an ant dreaming and searching for food beneath a staircase. Yet the vast, clear void remains unchanged, the sovereign body remains intact. Alas, how pitiful are these delusions, forcing one to suffer through the illusory cycle of rebirth. Toiling with compassion, the Honored One appeared among us, sharing our afflictions. His teaching, tirelessly shown over eight thousand lifetimes, extends without bias to every particle of every realm. Once heart-ground of a single drop spreads, the deep slumber of eons awakens instantly. Long sealed within the Buddhist canon, only half a pearl appeared. Now, for this fool, I gain the complete treasure, exhausting all thought and energy, like adding a speck of dust to Mount Tai. Contemplating this rare dharma affinity, tears and mucus pour forth in a flood. Pray, let all companions deeply contemplate, earnestly practice, integrate understanding and action, benefit oneself and others, thus repaying the Buddha's kindness and never betraying our own true nature.
