### 貝林師書大佛頂經跋

> Colophon to the Great Buddha Crown Sutra by Master Beilin

予聞貝師善梵書，為芥菴凡夫諸友所欽。適沈甫受示師手書《大佛頂經》，每書一字，必致一禮，精誠端楷，千古罕見其儔。至梵文及明王像，不異五天親授，蓋真得諸定中，非聊爾也。師棲神安養，誓願弘深，示寂茶毘，骨皆五色。甫受專修淨業，與師臭味最合，故得手澤最多。嗚呼！世藐教乘、薄淨土，安得如師者以主之？又安得人人如甫受者，而得其所主也？

> I have heard that Master Bei is deeply learned in Sanskrit calligraphy, esteemed by friends like Jie’an and Fanfu. Recently, Shen Fushou showed me the Master's handwritten copy of the \*Shurangama Sutra\*. For each character he wrote, he would first make a full prostration. His brushwork was precise and reverent, a rare sight in a thousand years. The Sanskrit characters and the images of the Bright Kings appeared as if directly transmitted from the Five Heavens—truly attained in deep meditation, not casually done. The Master's mind dwelt in the Pure Land, his vows vast and profound. When he passed away and was cremated, his relics were of five colors. Fushou, who practices Pure Land cultivation single-mindedly, shared the Master's deepest affinity, and thus received the greatest share of his handwritten works. Alas! In this age when people disdain the scriptural teachings and belittle the Pure Land, how can we find another such Master to lead us? And how can we find another like Fushou to receive such a guide?
