> Painting Inscription

見山忘道，古人所訶。況著意描山水，作古董玩具邪？畫者求者，各領三十棒。雖然，心外無法，滿目青山。果然會得，一切法趣畫，坐畫道場，轉畫法輪，度畫人物，證畫佛像，則予三十棒，便是普賢廣興供養矣。

> Seeing the mountain, forgetting the Path—this the ancients condemned. How much more so when one deliberately paints mountains and waters, turning them into antique toys? Both the painter and the one who seeks such a painting deserve thirty blows. Even so, there is no dharma outside the mind; before your eyes are the blue mountains. If you truly grasp this, then all dharmas converge in the painting. Sit in the painting as your meditation hall, turn the Dharma wheel of the painting, save the beings of the painting, realize the Buddha-image of the painting. Then those thirty blows become the boundless offering of Samantabhadra.
