### 化鐵地藏疏

> Transforming Iron Ksitigarbha Petition

洪鐘具無邊音性，一擊而頓徹鐵圍；地藏圓同體大悲，瞻禮而頓蒙與拔。幽冥之覺悟可期，現在之障緣宜轉。靈峰心懷禮公，既已鑄鐘打鐘，復思是像作像。雖丹青刻畫，咸皆性同虛空，而鍊就純鋼，可表堅固不壞。四德非塵，藉一塵而圓顯；三身無像，即影像以妙彰。寄語高賢，共行檀施。助鐵者，如正因心發，法身妙果可登；助炭者，如了因心發，般若光明可悟；助食用者，如緣因心發，解脫神通可基。從大士而發其心，正是全性起修；由眾信而成此像，正是全修在性。如是事、如是理，如是因、如是果，真語實語，諦思諦行。

> The great bell possesses the nature of boundless sound—struck once, it resounds instantly through the Iron Mountains. Kṣitigarbha embodies the perfect great compassion of oneness—upon gazing and venerating, one is swiftly rescued and uplifted. Those in the dark realm may thus awaken, and present obstacles can be transformed. Master Lingfeng, with reverence for Master Lǐgōng, not only cast and struck the bell but also thought to create this image. Though mere pigments and carvings, their nature is one with empty space; yet the refined solid steel can represent indestructibility. The Four Virtues have no form, yet through one form they are perfectly revealed; the Three Bodies have no image, yet through this image they are wondrously manifested. I entrust these words to noble benefactors: let us together practice charitable giving. Those who donate iron—like giving rise to the direct cause of mind—may attain the sublime fruit of the Dharmakāya. Those who donate charcoal—like giving rise to the understanding cause of mind—may realize the light of prajñā. Those who donate food and supplies—like giving rise to the circumstantial cause of mind—may lay the foundation for liberation and spiritual powers. To bring forth your mind through the Great Being—this is to cultivate from your inherent nature. To become this image through the faithful offerings of many—this is the fullness of cultivation dwelling in nature. Such is the truth, such is the principle; such is the cause, such is the fruit. Truly spoken, genuinely stated—ponder it deeply, and practice it sincerely.
