### 五蘊禪人掩關化供給疏

> Offering for a Zen Practitioner's Seclusion Retreat

從古學人，未有不撥草瞻風，廣參博訪者，未聞枯守一室，能坐進此道也。然具眼乃可參方，力學方能具眼。顧力學之法，或決擇於師友，或藉境以鍊心，至若咿唔一室，又力學之變局也。五蘊禪人擬閉關習教律，從關轉關在禪人，決當由世界而忽悟對治之益；因事成事在善信，正可借外護而密操教授之權，直待翻轉關捩子時，方信自他功德，皆不誣矣。

> From ancient times, true seekers have never failed to go out into the world—pushing through weeds and scanning the horizon—to learn from many teachers and visit widely. No one has ever sat alone in one room and gradually entered this path. But only with an enlightened eye can one truly seek instruction; and only through diligent study can one attain that eye. As for diligent study: sometimes it involves discerning discussion with teachers and friends, and sometimes it relies on using circumstances to refine the mind. As for sitting alone in a room murmuring texts, that is merely a special adaptation of the diligent study method. The practitioner Wuyun intends to close his doors to study the teachings and precepts. Whether he can pass from one barrier to the next depends on the practitioner himself. He must surely awaken to the benefits of counteracting afflictions by engaging with the world. As for benefactors, they can fulfill their aims by taking action; they can discreetly wield the authority of guidance while offering external support. Only when the crucial pivot point is finally turned will one truly believe that the merits of both self and others are not in vain.
