### 北天目靈峰寺二十景頌有序
> Eulogies of Twenty Scenes at Lingfeng Temple, Northern TianmuWith Preface
靈峰山，古稱為北天目。辛未冬，入山結制，即有偈云：「靈峰一片石，信可矢千秋。」甲申秋，從檇李入山，復有句云：「靈峰片石舊盟新。」不謂乙酉春，偶遊石城，直至己丑深秋，方獲歸臥也。俯仰泉石，勝概縱橫，紀其大者，略有二十，聊當化城，畢茲餘喘，自非樂土，終弗與易矣。
> Lingfeng Mountain, anciently known as Northern Tianmu. In the winter of the Xinwei year, I entered the mountain for a retreat and composed a verse: "One stone of Lingfeng, truly can testify a thousand autumns." In the autumn of the Jia-shen year, I returned from Zui Li into the mountain, adding this line: "The old pact with Lingfeng's single stone is renewed." Never did I expect that in the spring of the Yi-you year, while on a casual trip to Shicheng, I would be unable to return until late autumn of the Ji-chou year—only then could I come home to rest. Gazing at the springs and stones, the splendid scenery stretches in all directions. Recording its major spots, there are roughly twenty. Let this serve as a temporary resting place to finish my remaining days. Unless it is truly a land of bliss, I will never trade it for another.
大雄峰。○群峰之中，巍然端坐，為山正主。鷲嶺遙傳袛一枝，由來吾道貴聞知。但從龍樹通消息，不向黃梅覓破衣。
> On Great Hero Peak. Among the gathering of mountains, it sits majestically upright, the true master of the range. A single branch was passed down from Vulture Peak from afar, This path of ours has always valued hearing and knowing. Simply connect with the message through Nagarjuna, Don't go seeking a torn robe at Huangmei.
百丈峰。○大雄之東，危巖傑峙，俯臨萬竹。應據當陽顯別傳，較來仍是正中偏，馬駒踏殺人無數，畢竟還他懷海賢。
> On Baizhang Peak, East of the Great Hero Hall, a perilous cliff towers high, Overlooking a sea of bamboo. He should have stood in the sunlight to illuminate the unique teaching, Yet when compared, it still falls into the relative, not the absolute. The colt trampled countless people to death— In the end, the true credit goes to the wise Huaihai.
獨立峰○大雄之西，峭壁千仞，有若天門，亦名海日幢。大壑風吹匝地寒，芙蓉削出翠難看。幾翻倒嶽傾湫後，方識孤危卻自安。
> Alone Peak, to the west of the Great Hero Hall. A thousand-zhang precipice, like a celestial gate, also known as the Sea-Sun Pinnacle. A great valley wind swirls, freezing the earth cold. Lotus-shaped peaks rise, steep with green — hard to behold. Only after the valleys have crashed and the lakes have tipped time and again, Do you learn that in lonely peril, you find your own peace.
五蓮峰。○獨立峰前，五峰行列，於寺之西，並似青蓮。九品何須一一求，戒乘俱急已前收。須摩去此洵非遠，觸目標心寄玉浮。
> Before the solitary peak, five peaks stand in a row, All to the west of the temple, like green lotuses blooming. Why seek each of the nine grades one by one? When precepts and practice are swiftly done, the goal is already won. Sukhavati is truly not far from here— Just let your mind touch the peaks, and Jade Float appears.
二乳峰。○在寺東南，迴顧梵剎，情同慈母。秀出雙雙巽岫高，不隨春色醉仙桃。山中薄有天廚供，傭向人閒問紫袍。
> Twin peaks rise pure and high in the southeast, Like a mother's loving gaze on the monastery. Unmoved by spring's drunken peach blossoms, Their beauty is a simple offering from the mountain's kitchen— Why seek worldly splendor and embroidered robes?
神舟峽。○俗稱靈巖豁，兩壁峭立，相傳為神舟行處。度他何必起風波，莫怪齊東傳事訛。縱使鐵船終不爛，幾人能聽屈原歌。
> Spirit Boat Gorge. Commonly called Spirit Rock Pass, with steep cliffs on both sides. Legend says it is where spirit boats passed through. To help others cross, why stir waves and strife? Don't blame the common tales—they're not all wrong. Though iron boats will never sink in life, How few can hear the poet's ancient song.
天鼓坪。○大雄、百丈兩峰之閒，行時皆逢逢有聲，震動巖谷。虛空為虡大地枹，無問自說聲有無。喚醒癡禪計離絕，但觀一諾還一呼。
> Heavenly Drum Flat. Between the two peaks of Great Hero and Hundred Fathoms, as you walk you hear a booming sound that shakes the crags and valleys. The empty sky is the frame, the great earth the drumstick— Self-arising speech, whether with sound or without. It wakes the deluded meditator chasing separation— Just watch: one call meets one response.
碧玉坪。○在藏堂東，修竹巨石，可行可坐。兩澗泉聲夾竹岡，恍疑羅帶曳琳琅，經行飯後無餘事，一任跏趺送夕陽。
> Jade Beryl Terrace. East of the Scripture Hall, tall bamboos and massive rocks offer space to walk or sit. The two streams' water sounds embrace the bamboo ridge, Like silken sashes trailing through jade jewels. After meals, I walk with nothing left to do, Just sitting cross-legged, letting the sunset fade.
映碧坪。○在藏堂西，與碧玉坪相對，皆從大雄峰而發，如兩瓣青蓮華葉，是為梵剎內護。聞說從來道不孤，萬筠叢裏臥璚株，鳳兮未肯甘衰德，早向深林避網罛。
> Emerald Mirror Flat. Located west of the Scripture Hall, opposite the Jasper Flat. Both rise from the Great Hero Peak like two petals of a green lotus, forming the inner sanctuary of the monastery. They say the Path has never been walked alone— Among ten thousand bamboos lies a jewel-like branch. The phoenix, unwilling to accept decline, Flees early to the deep woods to escape the net.
祕藏巖。○在映碧坪北，大石三座，如伊字三點，不縱不橫，不並不別，其前可結小茅。不是因緣不自然，大雄特地露言詮。剎塵演說雖無隱，水性終須飲者傳。
> A hidden rock chamber. ○ Located north of Yingbi Ping, with three large stones arranged like the three dots of the character "伊"—neither vertical nor horizontal, neither aligned nor separate. A small thatched hut could be built in front of them. It is not through causes or conditions, nor is it merely natural— The Great Hero intentionally revealed the teachings in words. Though countless realms proclaim the truth without concealment, The nature of water must still be conveyed by those who drink it.
龍樹泉。○舊名龍泉，祈雨最靈，載一統志，山由此得名。正在大雄百丈兩峰之中，堪表中道，如龍樹大士，造《中觀論》。傳佛心印，其味醇正，潤益無窮。四性無生八不該，誰將宗說強分開。但看滴滴歸滄海，始信源從阿耨來。
> Dragon Tree Spring. Originally named Dragon Spring, it was renowned for its efficacy in praying for rain, as recorded in the Unified Gazetteer; the mountain thus derives its name from this spring. Situated exactly between the Mahavira and Hundred-Zhang peaks, it aptly symbolizes the Middle Way, much like the Bodhisattva Nagarjuna who composed the \*Treatise on the Middle Way\*. Transmitting the Buddha's mind-seal, its flavor is pure and correct, providing unending nourishment. The Four Natures are unborn, the Eight Negations complete; Who dares to force distinction between doctrine and practice? Just watch each drop return to the vast ocean, And you will believe the source flows from Anuttara.
歡喜泉。○出百丈峰之東，冬夏不絕，飲之甘美。百丈峰頭涵蓄深，泠然東國沁禪心。維摩摘取雖非遠，未許貪夫著意斟。
> The Joyous Spring. It emerges east of Baizhang Peak, flowing without cease through winter and summer, its water sweet and delightful to drink. Deep within Baizhang Peak's crest lies hidden store, Cascading eastward, soothing Zen in ways profound. Though Vimalakīrti draws from it, not far before, No greedy heart may taste, 'ere wisdom's bound.
安養泉。○出大雄峰之西，味尤醇美，猶若醍醐。忍土塵勞不可噬，能仁格外垂恩濟。引取珠王十四枝，來向山中宣妙偈。
> The Spring of Serene Nourishment emerges west of the Great Hero Peak. Its taste is especially pure and fine, much like the finest clarified butter (ghee). In this troubled, weary world, not all can bear such hardship, Yet the Compassionate One offers grace beyond all measure, Drawing forth the fourteen radiant blossoms of the Jewel King, To share in the mountains the wondrous verses of Dharma.
澡月池。○在碧玉坪西麓，積龍泉所成也。歷盡青山數十層，盈科聊就此中澄。長空如洗標孤影，不向污流別覓朋。
> Purification Moon Pond—formed by accumulated Dragon Spring water, lying at the western foot of the Green Jade Plateau. Passing many layers of green mountains, The water fills and settles in this clear pool. Like a washed sky, it reflects a lone figure, Seeking no companionship in any muddy stream.
談經石。○俗呼神舟石，在安養泉左，可坐廿餘人，時泉聲淙淙。未必神舟是戲詀，坐聞泉水日喃喃。滿慈久已成獅吼，暗證徒將口舌緘。
> The Scripture-Expounding Rock, commonly called the "Divine Boat" stone, sits to the left of the An-Yang Spring. It can seat over twenty people, with the spring murmuring nearby. This rock—jokingly named "Divine Boat" or not— Just sit and hear the spring's constant, gentle words. Full of compassion, it long has roared like a lion, So silently witnessing, leaving talk behind.
跏趺石。○大雄峰之麓也，相傳大風雨時，從峰頭迸墜。在藏堂東北隅，群木交映，堪坐數人，遠望前山，疊翠數重，並相環拱。大雄久欠兒孫債，劈取須彌安此界。賓頭末敢向空旋，米芾不妨頻下拜。
> A flat stone for sitting in meditation. At the foot of the Great Hero Peak, it is said to have fallen from the peak's summit during a great storm. Located northeast of the Sutra Hall, surrounded by layered trees, it can seat several people. From here, the distant mountains appear as layers of emerald green, encircling the scene in a grand embrace.The Great Hero long owed a debt to disciples— He split off Sumeru to settle this land. Pindola dares not twirl in emptiness; Mi Fei would not hesitate to bow again and again.
萬竹塢。○舊名上房塢，今精舍名攝香居。舉世昏昏恥獨惺，亂山深處且埋形。夜來風雨摧殘芔，唯有修篁不改青。
> Bamboo Valley. Formerly known as Shangfang Valley, now the abode is called Scent of Incense Villa. The whole world is muddled, ashamed to stay awake alone; Amidst chaotic mountains, I hide my form instead. When storms came in the night, crushing flowers in their wake, Only the tall bamboo remained unchanged—still green.
千梅塢。○由萬竹塢東上，怪石崎嶇，人跡罕到，野梅無數，開則半山遍白，香風遠傳。藏身之處沒蹤跡，沒蹤跡處莫藏身。東風誤報春光好，香色分明舉似人。
> \*\*Chimei Cove.\*\* From the eastern path of Wanzhu Cove upward, jagged rocks rise steeply, a place rarely visited by people. Countless wild plum trees bloom until half the mountain turns white, and the fragrant breeze carries far and wide. In a place to hide, no trace remains; Where no trace remains, there is nowhere to hide. The east wind falsely announces the splendor of spring; Fragrance and color are clearly shown to others.
金仙洞。○舊名仙洞，在龍樹泉下，載一統志，每為苦行衲所居。何必高誇雞足山，箇中趺坐亦安閒。純陽飛劍心機錯，好向黃龍問過關。
> Golden Immortal Cave. Formerly called Immortal Cave, it lies below the Dragon Tree Spring. Recorded in the Imperial Gazetteer, it has often been a home for monks practicing asceticism. Why boast so loudly of Cock's Foot Mountain? Here, sitting cross-legged, there's peace to be found. Lü Dongbin's flying sword was a misguided quest— Better to ask the Yellow Dragon where to pass the test.
華嚴洞。○在二乳峰左，而外向東南，日出則先照之。獨據東南最上頭，天空海闊一浮漚。饒君先入如來慧，爭柰群機攝未周。
> The Flower Adornment Cave, located to the left of Twin Peaks and facing southeast, is the first to be illuminated by the sunrise. Alone atop the southeast peak so high, The sky's vast ocean—a single bubble drifts by. Though you may first obtain the Buddha's wisdom ray, Cannot yet gather all beings along the way.
