### 六四、宋蘇州延聖院尼法珍傳

> Biography of Dharma Treasure, Nun of Yansheng Monastery in Suzhou, Song Dynasty

法珍，字弘道，潞州崔進女也。幼習佛乘，明了大義，性喜流通正法，書寫刊布，終年不倦。大定十八年，印經一藏，進於朝。命聖安寺設壇，為受比丘尼戒。二十三年，賜紫衣宏教大師。明昌四年，立碑石，秘書丞兼翰林修撰趙渢記，翰林侍講黨懷英篆額。法珍嘗於蘇州陳湖磧砂延聖院斷臂募刻大藏，三十年始就緒，當時檀越，有破產鬻兒應之者。法珍化後，其徒復斷臂續之，更三世，其願始滿。

> Fazhen, whose courtesy name was Hongdao, was the daughter of Cui Jin from Luzhou. From a young age, she studied the Buddhist teachings and gained a clear understanding of their profound meaning. She had a natural inclination to propagate the true Dharma, tirelessly copying and distributing scriptures throughout her life. In the eighteenth year of the Dading era, she printed a complete set of Buddhist scriptures and presented it to the imperial court. She was then ordained as a bhikkhunī at a ceremonial platform set up at Sheng'an Temple. In the twenty-third year, she was granted the purple robe and honored with the title "Great Master Hongjiao." In the fourth year of the Mingchang era, a stele was erected in her honor, with Zhao Feng, the Secretary of the Imperial Library and a Hanlin Academy editor, composing the inscription, and Dang Huaiying, a Hanlin Academy lecturer, writing the seal script for the stele's heading. Fazhen once went to the Qisha Yansheng Monastery at Chen Lake in Suzhou, where she cut off her arm to raise funds for carving a complete set of the Buddhist canon. It took thirty years to complete this monumental task. During this time, some devoted patrons even sold their property or their children to support her cause. After Fazhen passed away, her disciples continued her work, with some also cutting off their arms to carry on the mission. It took three generations of disciples to finally fulfill her great vow.
