> Flat Distant Tower

> \[Note\] This is the flat building originally built by Ying Geng. His grandson Li De and others raised it to three levels, with flying railings suspended in the void, looking down upon the backs of birds. Gazing at the southern mountains, they appear especially distinct as if in a painting. Guo Xi's "Landscape Training" says: "Viewing distant mountains from near mountains is called 'level distance.'" The meaning of level distance is gentle, harmonious, and ethereal, hence it was named "Level Distance." Behind the building is the Guandi Tower, and further east is the East Tower. The scenery of the East Tower is called "Pine Ridge," and the long wind descending from the East Tower is called "Small Fragrant Snow."
