荒邱絕塵囂　石甃蒙荊棘疇昔烟霞侶　修綆於此汲提攜甕罌潔　滴瀝苔蘚濕靈液生天壤　何心冀賞識人偶辨甲乙　名已傳都邑伊予家海濱　潮汐作飲食鹽井難沃胸　源泉苦相憶數載願弗遂　一瓢今始執悠悠寺鐘聲　靉靉秋山色披榛自去來松風動蓑笠

> On a barren hill, far from the world's din, a stone well lies buried beneath thorns and brambles. Long ago, companions of mist and cloud let their long ropes down to draw water here. They carried clean jars and jugs— dripping, wetting the moss and stones. A living spring rises from the earth— why should it hope to be admired or known? When people trace its rank and worth, its name travels through towns and cities. I am one who lives by the shore— tide and current are my daily drink. Salt wells cannot quench my heart; I long for the sweetness of a mountain spring. My wish went unfulfilled for years— and now at last I hold this single gourd. The temple bell fades into time; autumn hills glow in gathering mist. Pushing through the brush, I come and go— pine wind stirs my straw cloak and hat.
