> A cool breeze stirs the blooming season, Floodwaters fill the rivers and lakes. A traveler comes from the Huai River, Finding quiet joy in the open fields. Together we board a small boat, All of us companions fond of wine. Golden fish are not begrudged, Fine brew we gladly buy. Paddling past city walls, Along the canals reeds and rushes thrive. Lotus leaves gleam with soft green, Lotus flowers blaze in deep crimson. Seeing this, joy knows no bounds, Content, we pour out a whole jar. We moor beneath the sandy islet, And climb with staffs to the hillside. Dense clouds cover the sun's light, Whirlwinds rise among tall parasol trees.
