### 謝恩表

康熙五十八年正月二十二日，江南蘇州府吳縣鄧尉山臣僧濟志奏為恭謝天恩敬攄聖願事臣僧濟志備員祖席，執帚名山。藜藿充膓，豈意遭逢王膳？草茆蔽體，何緣得賜天衣？此真曠世未聞，實是千生罕遇。恭惟皇帝陛下功高五帝德邁三王。仁孝法天，歷漢唐而無匹；慈心及物，繼堯舜之一人。優渥山林，俯埀草野，欽命內臣曹奉旨到山。賫賜帑金壹千兩數珠，壹千伍伯零壹掛僧衣僧帽，僧鞋僧襪，各壹千伍。伯零壹件，欽宣聖意，徧給眾僧，頓使萬峰草木，均滋雨露之中；四海禪流，並會風雲之內。啟建萬壽，道塲薰修。　華嚴懺法，祝聖天子萬世之鴻基，作皇太后九天之善果。臣僧濟志深惟薄德，際此非常，抱愧無能，有辜寵錫。率宗徒而遙拜，瞻宮闕以陳情，拈麈拂以陞堂，指南山而獻壽。則雖太湖萬頃，無如此　賜之深；華岳千尋，莫比斯恩之重。擬覲九重春色，自知步履維艱，徒令一點丹衷，只有傾心企慕。謹繕摺附奏，恭謝天恩臣僧濟志等曷勝感激屏營瞻天仰聖之至。

> On the twenty-second day of the first month in the fifty-eighth year of the Kangxi reign, I, the monk Jizhi of Dengwei Mountain in Wuxian County, Suzhou Prefecture, Jiangnan, respectfully submit this memorial to express my gratitude for Your Majesty’s boundless grace and to sincerely offer my holy wishes. Though I merely serve as an abbot in this humble monastery, sweeping the famous mountain with my broom, I never imagined that the meager wild vegetables that fill my stomach might be graced by royal delicacies, nor that the simple reeds covering my body would receive gifts of celestial robes. This is truly an unprecedented event rarely witnessed throughout history—indeed, an encounter that comes but once in a thousand lifetimes. In awe, I reflect: Your Majesty surpasses the Five Emperors in merit and outshines the Three Kings in virtue. Your benevolence and filial piety align with Heaven; none in the Han or Tang dynasties can match them. Your compassionate heart extends to all beings, making You the sole successor of Yao and Shun. You have favored even the remote mountains and lakes, bestowing kindness upon the humble wilderness. By royal decree, the inner minister Cao was dispatched to our mountain, bearing imperial gifts: one thousand taels of silver from the Treasury, one thousand five hundred and one prayer beads, and one thousand five hundred and one sets of monk’s robes, hats, shoes, and socks. These were distributed to all the monks according to Your sacred will. Suddenly, every blade of grass and tree upon the ten thousand peaks was bathed in the rain and dew of Your grace; all streams of Chan practitioners from across the land gathered in the embrace of Your spiritual wind. In response, we have inaugurated a ten-thousand-year longevity ceremony, burning incense and cultivating repentance through the Huayan Method. We pray for Your Majesty’s eternal foundation throughout ten thousand generations and for the auspicious fruition of the Empress Dowager in the Nine Heavens. I, the monk Jizhi, deeply aware of my own limited virtue and encountering such extraordinary favor, feel ashamed of my inability to fully repay Your kindness. Though unworthy of such gracious gifts, I rely on the guidance of my lineage as I bow from afar, gazing toward the palace and laying bare my heartfelt emotions. Raising my ceremonial whisk, I ascend the hall and point to the Southern Mountain, offering a toast to Your longevity. Let it be known: even the vast expanse of Lake Tai cannot compare to the depth of this imperial favor; the towering peaks of Huashan cannot match the weight of this grace. Though I long to behold the spring colors of the Forbidden City itself, I recognize that my steps are feeble. Yet my sincere and loyal heart remains, fixed solely in longing and devotion. I have carefully prepared this sealed memorial to express my profound gratitude for Your Majesty’s grace. I, the monk Jizhi and others, cannot help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude and awe as we gaze toward the heavens and revere the sage.
