### 二　窟八偈經

> Chapter 2: The Eight Verses on the Cave

七七二

> Seven hundred seventy-two

身體多著於所蔽 人住沈潛於愚中如斯之人難遠離 世間捨欲實不易

> The body is often shrouded by its own veils, People dwell submerged in ignorance. Such individuals are hard to distance from— Truly, it is not easy to leave desire in this world.

> Seven hundred and seventy-three.

欲求因緣有樂結 自難解脫他難脫彼等總期望前後 過現未來覓諸欲

> Craving for pleasure creates bonds, Hard to free oneself, hard to free others. They constantly look ahead and behind, Seeking desires in past, present, and future.

> Seventy-seven days.

面對諸欲迷貪求 住著不正吝嗇者憂慮死後將如何 悲泣煩惱陷諸苦

> Facing desires, lost in greed and craving, They cling to what is wrong, hoarding with stinginess. Worried about what will happen after death, They weep in sorrow, trapped in suffering and distress.

> Seven hundred seventy-five

故人於教如次學 知此世間多不正賢者勸言命短少 因其不正不可行

> Therefore, one should learn from the teachings in this way: Know that this world is filled with unwholesomeness. The wise advise that life is short and fleeting, And because of this unwholesomeness, one should not indulge in it.

> Seven hundred seventy-six

我見世間顫動者 諸人對有生至愛面臨死神愚人泣 對諸有愛難超越

> I see the world trembling, all people clinging dearly to existence. Faced with death, the foolish weep, for their attachment to life is hard to overcome.

> Seven, seven, seven.

請看動盪人我執 彼若涸河少水魚見此應行無我執 對有不被其繫著

> Look at the turmoil caused by clinging to self— Like a fish in a drying river, gasping for water. Seeing this, practice letting go of self-clinging, So that when faced with existence, you are not bound by it.

> Seventy or eighty percent

調伏諸欲離兩邊 徧知諸觸無隨貪不行惡業自呵責 賢者見聞皆無著

> Taming desires, free from extremes, Fully aware of touch, without clinging greed. Not doing evil, self-reproaching, The wise see and hear without attachment.

> Seven hundred and seventy-nine.

徧知想已渡瀑流 牟尼無染著徧取拔箭以行不放逸 此世他世無願求

> Having fully understood, he has crossed the torrent. The Sage, free from attachment, has fully grasped. He has pulled out the arrow and lives with diligence, Seeking nothing in this world or the next.
