### 七　優波私婆學童所問

一〇六九

> One thousand sixty-nine

尊者優波私婆曰：

> Venerable Upasiva said:

「世尊我獨無依止 不能渡越大瀑流普眼者為所依止 度瀑流緣為我語」

一〇七〇

> One thousand seventy.

世尊曰：「優波私婆

無所有處具念觀 依無所有為非有斷欲離惑愛滅盡 晝夜觀察渡瀑流」

> Dwelling in the state of Nothingness, with mindful observation, Relying on nothingness, seeing it as non-existence. Cutting off desire, abandoning confusion and craving, extinguishing them completely, Observing day and night, one crosses the torrential stream.

> One thousand seventy-one.

尊者優波私婆曰：

> Venerable Upasiva said:

「離貪一切之諸欲 捨他依止無所有信解第一想解脫 無所有處不退去彼處是否可住立」

> "Having abandoned all desires and attachments, Renouncing dependence on others, dwelling in nothingness, With faith in the supreme liberation of perception, In the realm of nothingness, not falling back— Can one abide there steadfastly?"

> One thousand seventy-two.

世尊曰：「優波私婆

離貪一切之諸欲 捨他依止無所有信解第一想解脫 無所有處不退去汝於其處可住立」

> Renounce all worldly desires, Abandon reliance on others, dwell in nothingness. With faith, resolve to be liberated, Remain in the state of nothingness without retreating. There you may dwell and abide.

> One thousand seventy-three.

「無所有處不退去 其處多年可住立彼解脫處得清涼 如斯識者亡滅否」

> "Even if one does not retreat from the state of nothingness, And dwells there for many years, When one attains liberation in that place and finds peace, Does such a knower cease to exist?"

> One thousand seventy-four

世尊曰：「優婆私婆

猶如強風吹飛火 不入火數焰滅沒牟尼名身之解脫 不入識數而滅沒」

> Just as a strong wind scatters a flame, extinguishing it so it is no longer counted among fires, So the Sage's liberation of body and name passes beyond consciousness and is extinguished.

> One thousand seventy-five

「彼所滅沒或非有 或是常恒而無病唯願牟尼示解說 此法尊師如實知」

> "That which ceases and disappears, or does not exist at all, or is eternal and free from suffering—O Sage, please explain this to us. The Teacher of the Dharma knows this truth as it truly is."

> One thousand seventy-six

世尊曰：「優波私婆

滅沒無有非有量 依此彼言有非有彼無有此煩惱焰 一切諸法破壞時一切語路亦破壞」

> Extinction and emptiness, neither existence nor non-existence, are beyond measure. Based on this, some speak of existence and non-existence. But when all phenomena are destroyed, the flames of affliction are not found there, and all paths of speech are also destroyed.
