### 序分

此本生譚是佛在祇園精舍時，對廢精進比丘所作之談話。爾時佛向比丘言曰：「汝等比丘！前生之賢者於外敵之中能行精進，雖負傷亦不廢弛。」佛為說過去之事。

> This Jataka tale was spoken by the Buddha in the Jetavana Monastery, addressing a monk who had abandoned diligence. At that time, the Buddha said to the monks: "Monks, in a past life, a wise one practiced diligence even among external enemies, and did not give up even when wounded." The Buddha then recounted a story of the past.
