寒松大師，余同里隱翁也。別硯超然，得大總持印心於百老人，作獅子吼法語，以為海內所尊仰。至拈題得句，清深圓秀，讀之如遊珠網瓊林、金沙玉沼之間，豈漢魏以下人所易得耶？松陵顧、王二子輯其詩，繼百老人以行，誠欲使海內重其禪者，並重其詩也。雖然，詩之禪、禪之詩有異，余敢以詩測禪師，蓋禪而詩赴焉。我願海內重其詩者，當益重其禪爾。

> Master Hansong was a reclusive elder from my hometown. Distinguished and transcendent, he received the great seal of the mind-dharma from the Hundred-Year Elder, and his lion's roar of Dharma talks is revered throughout the land. When he took up a theme and composed verses, they were clear, profound, round, and exquisite—reading them felt like wandering through a jeweled net and jade forest, among golden sands and jade pools. How could poets after the Han and Wei dynasties easily attain such heights? Two gentlemen of Songling, Gu and Wang, have compiled his poems to be published after those of the Hundred-Year Elder. Their sincere intention is to make those across the land who treasure his Chan teachings also treasure his poetry. Yet poetry and Chan are distinct: let me dare to gauge this master through his poetry—for in him, Chan flows forth through verse. My vow is that those in the world who treasure his poetry will come to treasure his Chan all the more.
