> To Brother Xunmu at Fenzi Mountain the Next Day, a Gift of Rhyme

素志巖棲傍石隈，無端強逼渡江來，欣看紫氣凝春麗，不覺幽懷對月開。閬苑群峰齊點首，漢庭雙掌待攔腮，獅絃久輟稀同調，此日重彈一快哉。

> My lifelong wish has been to dwell among the rocks by a mountain cliff, Yet without reason, I was forced to cross the river and come here. Joyfully, I see the purple mist gathering in the beauty of spring, And unconsciously, my secluded heart opens wide before the moon. The peaks of the celestial garden all nod in agreement, While two hands of the Han court now wait to cup their faces. The lion’s lute has long been silent, its harmonies rare— But today, as I pluck its strings anew, what ease and joy!
