Faith, a sense of shame, and the wealth of good intentions— these teachings are praised by the wise. The wise call this the path to heaven; by living this way, one rises to the heavenly realm.
The foolish do not cultivate the heavenly way, nor do they praise generosity. But one who has faith and gives to support the good— through this, they reach peace beyond.
The faithful one grows in what is true; mindful of the Dharma, they dwell in peace. Those close to them gain clarity of mind; the wise and long-lived are the finest among the living.

Faith leads to the Path; the Dharma brings liberation. Wisdom comes from listening, and wherever you go, there is light. Faith carries you across the deep, gathering all as a ship's captain. Diligence removes suffering; wisdom reaches the other shore. Those who walk in faith are praised by the noble. Those who delight in the unconditioned are freed from all bonds. Faith and precepts, with wise intent, can be practiced. The strong overcome anger and escape the abyss. Faith makes precepts genuine and also receives wisdom. Wherever one goes, one can practice; everywhere one finds support. Compared to worldly gain, wise faith is the light. It is the highest treasure, beyond ordinary wealth. Those who wish to see the truth and delight in hearing the Dharma taught can let go of stinginess—this is faith. Faith carries you across the river; its merit cannot be taken away. It stops theft; the forest ascetic rejoices. Without faith, one does not practice and delights in cutting down right speech, like a fool drawing water—digging a spring only to stir up mud. The wise cultivate wisdom and delight in the clear stream, like one who draws water skillfully, keeping it undisturbed. Faith does not stain others; only the wise share it. What is good, learn; what is not, stay away. Faith is my chariot—who knows its burden? Like a well-trained elephant, self-training is supreme. The wealth of faith, the wealth of precepts, the wealth of shame and modesty, the wealth of learning, the wealth of generosity, and wisdom—these are the seven treasures. From faith, keeping precepts, always purely contemplating the Dharma, with wisdom benefiting practice, honoring and never forgetting. One born with these treasures—whether man or woman—will never be poor. The wise recognize the truth.
