### 老耗品法句經第十九十有四章

老耗品者，誨人懃仂，不與命競，老悔何益？

何喜？何笑？ 命常熾然， 深弊幽冥，如不求錠。 見身形範， 倚以為安，多想致病， 豈知非真？ 老則色衰，病無光澤， 皮緩肌縮， 死命近促。身死神徙， 如御棄車， 肉消骨散，身何可怙？ 身為如城， 骨幹肉塗，生至老死， 但藏恚慢。 老則形變，喻如故車， 法能除苦， 宜以仂學。人之無聞， 老若特牛， 但長肌肥，無有福慧。 生死無聊， 往來艱難，意猗貪身， 生苦無端。 慧以見苦，是故棄身， 滅意斷行， 愛盡無生。不修梵行、 又不富財， 老如白鷺，守伺空池。 既不守戒、 又不積財，老羸氣竭， 思故何逮？ 老如秋葉，何穢鑑錄？ 命疾脫至， 亦用後悔。

> What joy, what laughter, When life burns ever on, Shrouded in deep darkness— If one seeks not the lamp. Beholding the body's form, One leans on it for safety, Plagued by many thoughts and ills— How could one know it's not real? With age, the color fades, Sickness steals the glow, Skin slackens, muscles shrink, And death draws ever near. When the body dies, the self departs, Like a rider leaving a worn-out cart. Flesh dissolves, bones scatter— What can the body truly hold? The body is like a fortress, Bones the beams, flesh the plaster, From birth to old age and death, It harbors only anger and pride. Aging transforms the form, Like an old, creaking cart. The Dharma can end suffering— Strive diligently to learn it. Those who never hear the truth Age like a stubborn ox: They only grow in flesh and fat, With neither merit nor wisdom. Birth and death are wearisome, The round of existence is hard. The mind clings to the body, And suffering arises without end. Wisdom sees this suffering, And therefore lets the body go, Quiets the mind, ends all striving, Craving spent, no more rebirth. Without cultivating the holy life, Without amassing true wealth, One ages like a white heron Guarding an empty pond. Neither keeping precepts Nor gathering real riches, Aged, weak, breath failing— What can be gained from looking back? Old age is like autumn leaves, What mirror can preserve them? Life speeds swiftly to its end— Regret comes all too late.

命欲日夜盡， 及時可懃力，世間諦非常， 莫惑墮冥中。當學燃意燈， 自練求智慧，離垢勿染污， 執燭觀道地。
