> Good spiritual friends! In this Dharma door of mine, from the very beginning to now, whether sudden or gradual awakening, all establish "No-Thought" as the core teaching, "No-Form" as the essence, and "Non-Abiding" as the foundation. What is meant by "No-Form"? No-Form means to be amidst forms yet remain detached from them. What is "No-Thought"? No-Thought means to be amidst thoughts yet not be held by them. What is "Non-Abiding"? Non-Abiding is the original nature of human beings—thought after thought does not linger. Past thoughts, present thoughts, future thoughts—each thought flows continuously without interruption. If even one moment of thought is cut off, the Dharma body would separate from the physical body. At every moment, do not abide in any phenomenon. If one thought clings, then all thoughts cling, and this is called bondage. But if, towards all phenomena, thought after thought does not abide, then there is no bondage. This is why Non-Abiding is the foundation. Good spiritual friends! To be outwardly detached from all forms is No-Form. When you can be free from forms, your intrinsic nature becomes pure and clear. This is why No-Form is the essence. To be unstained by any circumstance is called No-Thought. In your own thoughts, be free from attachment to circumstances—do not generate thoughts based on phenomena. But do not mistake this for suppressing all thinking, extinguishing every thought until the mind is a blank. For if a single thought is cut off, you die and are reborn elsewhere in a different state. Those who study the Path must use their minds correctly—do not fail to understand the true meaning of the Dharma. If you yourself are mistaken, that is bad enough, but to further mislead others, and not even recognize your own delusion while slandering the scriptures and the Dharma—this is worse. This is why No-Thought is established as the core teaching. This is because deluded people have thoughts arise in response to circumstances, and from those thoughts, wrong views develop—all the dust and defilements, all false and wandering thoughts, are born from this. Therefore, this teaching establishes No-Thought as its core. But if people of the world, freed from wrong views, do not give rise to thoughts—if there are truly no thoughts at all—then even "No-Thought" itself cannot be established. What does "No" negate? What does "Thought" contemplate? "No" means to transcend the duality of forms and the defilements of the sense world. "Thought" means to contemplate the True Thusness of your own original nature. True Thusness is the substance of thought; thought is the function of True Thusness. When thoughts arise from your own nature, although you see, hear, perceive, and know, you remain unstained by the myriad circumstances and are always free and at ease. As the \*Vimalakirti Sutra\* says: "Outwardly, one can skillfully distinguish all the characteristics of phenomena; inwardly, one remains unmoved in the ultimate truth."
