（一一）寶天因緣品第十一
Chapter 11: The Causes and Conditions of Treasure Heaven
如是我聞：
Thus have I heard:
一時佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。爾時有長者生一男兒，當爾之時，天雨七寶遍其家內，皆令積滿。即召相師，占相此兒。相師覩已，見其奇相，答長者言：「兒相殊特。」長者聞已，心懷歡喜，即語相師：「當為立字。」相師問曰：「此兒生時，有何瑞應？」長者答曰：「此兒生時，天雨七寶滿我家內。」相師答曰：「是兒福德，當為立號為勒那提婆（晉言寶天）。」
At one time the Buddha was staying in the Jetavana Grove at Anāthapiṇḍika's Park in the kingdom of Śrāvastī. At that time, a wealthy elder had a son born to him, and at the very moment of his birth, the heavens rained down the seven treasures, filling his entire household so that they piled up high. The elder immediately summoned a fortune-teller to read the child's physiognomy. When the fortune-teller had examined the boy, he saw his extraordinary marks and said to the elder, "The child's physiognomy is exceptional." Hearing this, the elder was overjoyed and said to the fortune-teller, "Please give him a name." The fortune-teller asked, "When this child was born, what auspicious signs occurred?" The elder replied, "When this child was born, the heavens rained down the seven treasures, filling my household." The fortune-teller replied, "This is the child's merit and virtue; he should be named Ratnadeva (in Chinese, 'Treasure Heaven')."
兒年轉大，才藝博通，聞佛神聖，奇德少雙，心懷渴仰，貪欲出家，即辭父母，往詣佛所，頭面作禮，而白佛言：「唯願世尊聽我出家！」佛即聽許：「善來比丘！」鬚髮自墮，法衣在身。佛為說法，即得羅漢。
When the boy grew older, he mastered a wide range of arts and skills. Hearing that the Buddha was a revered and holy figure whose wondrous virtues had few equals, he felt a deep longing and yearned to leave home. He took leave of his parents and went to where the Buddha was staying. Bowing his head to the ground in reverence, he said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One, please permit me to leave home as a monastic." The Buddha at once consented: "Come, monk!" His hair and beard fell away of themselves, and the Dharma robe appeared upon his body. The Buddha taught him the Dharma, and he immediately attained Arhatship.
阿難白佛：「不審，世尊！此寶天比丘本作何福，而當生時天雨眾寶，衣食自然，無有乏短？」
Ananda said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One, I wonder—what merit did the monk Jewel-Heaven (Ratnadeva) accumulate in the past, such that at his birth the heavens rained down many treasures, and clothing and food came naturally, with nothing ever lacking?"
佛告阿難：「過去世時，有毘婆尸佛出現於世，度脫眾生不可計數。爾時眾僧遊行村落，時彼村中有諸居士共請眾僧，種種供養。時有貧人雖懷喜心，家無財寶供養之具，便以一把白石似珠，用散眾僧，發大誓願。」佛告阿難：「爾時貧人珠供養者，今此寶天比丘是也。由其過去用信敬心，持白石似珠散眾僧故，乃至九十一劫受無量福，多饒財寶，衣食自然，無有乏短。緣於爾時有信敬心，今遭我世，得道果證。」
The Buddha said to Ananda: "In ages past, the Buddha named Vipasyin appeared in the world and brought countless beings to liberation. At that time, the monks were traveling through villages, and the laypeople of one village jointly invited the monastic community and made various offerings. Now there was a poor man there who, though his heart was full of joy, had no wealth or goods in his household with which to make an offering. So he took a handful of white stones that resembled pearls and scattered them among the monks, and he made a great Vow."
The Buddha said to Ananda: "That poor man who made the offering of stones is now this Bhikshu Ratnadeva. Because in the past he scattered white stones resembling pearls among the monks with a mind of Faith and reverence, for ninety-one kalpas he has received immeasurable blessings, abounding in wealth and treasure, with clothing and food arising naturally, never lacking anything. Because of that mind of Faith and reverence at that time, he has now met my dispensation and attained the fruit of the Path to Cessation."
爾時眾會聞佛所說，自生信心，有得初果，乃至第四果者，復有發心住不退轉。爾時眾會聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
At that time, when the assembled multitude heard what the Buddha taught, faith arose in them of itself. Some attained the first fruit, and even up to the fourth fruit; others brought forth the resolve to abide in non-retrogression. When the assembled multitude heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and put it into practice.
