（一〇）華天因緣品第十
Chapter 10: Heavenly Flowers and Causes
如是我聞：
Thus have I heard:
一時佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園，與大比丘眾千二百五十人俱。爾時國內有豪富長者生一男兒，面首端政。其兒生已，家內自然天雨眾華，積滿舍內，即字此兒名弗波提婆（晉言花天）。兒年轉大，往至佛所，見佛顏容相好無比，見已歡喜，心自思惟：「我生處世，得值聖尊，今當請佛及諸眾僧。」即前白佛言：「唯願世尊及與眾僧明日屈意臨適鄙家，受少蔬食，因見福度。」佛知其根，即時受請。于時華天還至其家。
At one time, the Buddha was staying in the Jetavana Grove at Anathapindika's Park in the kingdom of Shravasti, together with a great assembly of twelve hundred and fifty monks.
At that time, a wealthy elder in the kingdom had a son born to him, with a handsome and well-formed face. When the child was born, a rain of heavenly flowers fell naturally within the household, piling up and filling the house. So the child was named Phupphatideva (in Chinese, "Flower Heavens").
As the boy grew older, he went to where the Buddha was staying. When he saw the Buddha's incomparable features and excellent marks, he was filled with joy and thought to himself: "I have been born into this world and have had the fortune to encounter the Holy One. Now I should invite the Buddha and all the monks."
So he approached the Buddha and said: "I only pray that the World-Honored One and all the monks would kindly condescend to visit my humble home tomorrow and accept a modest meal of vegetables, so that I may gain merit and be blessed."
The Buddha, knowing the boy's capacities, accepted the invitation right away. Then Flower Heavens returned to his own home.
明日食時，佛與眾僧往至其家，華天即化作寶床座遍其舍內，整設嚴飾，佛及眾僧即坐其座。華天欲須種種飲食，其人福德，自然而辦。佛與眾僧食已攝鉢，廣為華天具說諸法，華天合家得須陀洹。於時，華天即辭父母，求索出家為佛弟子。父母聽之，即至佛所，稽首佛足，求作比丘，稟受佛教。佛聽入道，讚言：「善來比丘！」鬚髮自墮，袈裟著身，即成沙門，遵修佛教，逮得羅漢。
The next day at mealtime, the Buddha and the monks went to their house. Huatian then transformed into jeweled seats that filled the entire house, all beautifully arranged and adorned. The Buddha and the monks sat on those seats. Huatian wanted to serve all kinds of food and drinks, and because of this person's merit, everything was prepared naturally. After the Buddha and the monks had eaten and put away their bowls, the Buddha gave a comprehensive teaching on the Dharma for Huatian, and Huatian's entire family attained stream-entry. At that time, Huatian took leave of his parents and asked to leave home to become a disciple of the Buddha. His parents consented, so he went to where the Buddha was, bowed his head at the Buddha's feet, and asked to become a monk and receive the Buddha's teachings. The Buddha accepted him into the path and said in praise, "Welcome, monk!" His beard and hair fell away on their own, the monastic robe appeared on his body, and he became a renunciant. He practiced according to the Buddha's teachings and attained arhatship.
爾時阿難見斯事已，往至佛所，長跪白言：「世尊！是華天比丘本殖何福，而得如是自然天華，又能化作床座飲食？世尊！當為決散此疑。」
At that time, Ananda saw what had happened and went to where the Buddha was. Kneeling with his palms joined, he said: "World-Honored One, what merit did the monk Hua Tian plant in the past that he now receives such heavenly flowers appearing naturally, and can also transform them into seats, beds, food, and drink? World-Honored One, please resolve this doubt for us."
佛告阿難：「欲知善聽！過去有佛名毘婆尸，出現於世，度脫眾生。時諸眾僧遊行聚落，到諸豪族，皆悉供養。時有一人貧無錢財，見僧歡喜，恨無供養，即於野澤採眾草華，用散眾僧，至心敬禮，於是而去。」佛告阿難：「爾時貧人散僧華者，今此華天比丘是也。由其過去用信敬心故，採華散僧，至心求願，九十一劫所生之處身體端政，意有所須，欲得飲食、床臥之具，尋時如念，自然而至。緣斯之福，自致得道。是故，阿難！一切眾生莫輕小施，以為無福，猶如華天今悉自得。」
爾時阿難及諸眾會聞佛所說，歡喜奉行。
