Sixfold Reverence

(行者應念三寶。體是無緣慈悲。常欲󳫠濟一切眾生。但為無機。不能起應。我既再三奉請。縱非目擊。冥應不虗。故須作已降之想。燒眾名香。五輪著地。禮上所請三寶。唯諸天鬼神。不須致禮。若至藥師本尊。及本經呪。各須三禮。此之人法。是道揚主故。唱云)。

The practitioner should contemplate the Three Jewels. Their essence is unconditional compassion, always seeking to save all beings. However, without a receptive vessel, they cannot manifest in response. Since I have earnestly invited them repeatedly, even if unseen, their hidden response is real. Therefore, one should hold the conviction that they have descended.

Burn various fine incenses. Place the five limbs on the ground, and bow to the Three Jewels invited above. Only the heavenly beings and spirits need not be bowed to. When reaching the main figure of Medicine Master and the sutra and mantra of this text, each requires three bows. These—the person and the Dharma—are the masters of the path.

Thus, chant:

  • 一心頂禮。本師釋迦牟尼世尊。
