五讚歎
Five Praises
(本經無讚文。欲取他文。恐與藥師願行功德。不得盡同。又不可輙任胷臆。故采龍樹毗婆沙論。徧讚東方諸佛偈文。用以讚之。讚時。了知身口意業。充滿法界。讚歎三寶。無生無滅。無有自性)。
This sutra has no praise verses. To borrow from other texts might not fully align with the vows and merits of Medicine Buddha. Nor can we arbitrarily rely on personal conjecture. Therefore, I have selected the verses from Nagarjuna's *Vibhasha Shastra* that praise all the Buddhas of the East to use for this praise. While praising, be fully aware that one's body, speech, and mind pervade the Dharma Realm, and that the praise of the Three Jewels is without birth, without extinction, and without inherent nature.
面淨如滿月 光明照無極 壽命無有量
國土甚嚴淨 能滅諸眾生 三毒之熱惱
所有現在佛 皆從其發願 聞名定作佛
是故稽首禮
His face is pure like the full moon, His radiance illuminates all realms without limit, His life span is immeasurable.
His land is supremely pure and majestic, Able to extinguish the burning distress Of greed, hatred, and delusion in all beings.
All present Buddhas Arose from his vows. Hearing his name, one is destined to attain Buddhahood. Therefore, I bow my head in reverence.
以此歎佛功德。修行大乘。無上善根。奉福上界天龍八部。大梵天王。三十三天。閻羅五道。六齋八王。行病鬼王。各及眷屬。此土神祇。僧伽藍內。護正法者。又為國王帝主。土境萬民。師僧父母。善惡知識。造寺檀越十方信施。廣及法界眾生。願藉此善根平等熏修。功德智慧。二種莊嚴。同得往生。淨瑠璃國。(一拜)
With this, we praise the Buddha's virtues. Practicing the Great Vehicle, the unsurpassable wholesome roots, we dedicate the blessings to the heavenly beings of the upper realms, the eight classes of dragons and spirits, the Great Brahma Heavenly King, the gods of the thirty-three heavens, Yama and the beings of the five paths, the eight kings of the six fasting days, the ghost kings who spread illness, each along with their retinues, the local deities of this land, and the protectors of the true Dharma within the monastic grounds. Furthermore, for the kings and rulers, all the people within the borders, teachers, monks, parents, virtuous and unwholesome companions, donors who build monasteries, and the faithful supporters from the ten directions, broadly extending to all sentient beings throughout the Dharma realm—may we, relying on these wholesome roots, equally cultivate and refine them, adorning ourselves with both merit and wisdom. May we together attain rebirth in the Pure Lapis Lazuli Land.
